Pepe Jeans - New Zealand
Founded by three brothers, Nitin, Milan and Arun Shah in London in 1973, Pepe Jeans begun as a humble market stall on Portebello Road. The stall quickly expanded into four larger stalls in London before earning a place at Kensington Market – a market which later proved to be a place for brands who found success in the industry. Pepe Jeans was the leader in denim manufacturing in the UK during the 80s and expanded internationally in 1984 when the brand launched in Los Angeles and Ireland. Now present in over 80 countries with over 300 stores worldwide, Pepe Jeans has expanded to include knitwear, jersey, jackets, pants, skirts and shoes in each collection.
Working with the industry’s best photographers, models and stylists, Pepe Jeans is famed for its controversial marketing campaigns. The brand’s first marketing campaign gave fame to model Bridget Hall, while world-famous photographer Bruce Weber was responsible for the imagery. With over 35 years of experience in the industry, the brand continues to work with coveted models, directors and talents, and now hosts hard exhibitions for local and international artists back at its birthplace on Portobello Road.
With a unique manufacturing process and everything from sketches to finished product produced by the company itself, it’s no surprise that the brand remains a world leader in denim manufacturing to this day.
